Bowls is fun, social and competitive. Founded in 1975, the club facilities are on the High St. adjacent to Venney’s restaurant.

The goal of the club is to enhance community well-being. Lawn bowls is a skilful, tactical and inclusive game that can be played and enjoyed by all.

The club has over forty full time members made up from residents of North Thoresby and surrounding villages.

Bowls is healthy and fun. There are no age restrictions. We have plenty of room in our club for anyone who likes to challenge themselves by learning a new skill. Come and give it a try. New members are always welcome. No previous experience required. Pop along to one of our Saturday sessions or come and meet us whenever you see members bowling. We have spare equipment for you to use.

September 2026 Update

Summer flew by. This year without much rain. While the early season was wet, the precious rain soon disappeared and the bowling green struggled. We will soon be working on the green to help it recuperate. There are many tasks to perform to repair the bowling green surface and prepare it as best we can for next year. In addition, we are presently removing conifers from the western border of the green. While the conifers look attractive and are a good wind screen, they need regular pruning and the roots find their way up into the bowling green itself.

What a great bowling season we had, both in the bowling leagues and in our social bowling. Our social bowling was very well attended and we welcomed some new members who developed their skills and brought excitement and enthusiasm to our club.

It was a good year for our competitive teams. We play in three separate leagues. We played consistently well in the Louth Wolds Bowls League and we regained our Champions title eventually winning the league by a comfortable margin. We were pushed much harder in our Grimsby & Cleethorpes Bowls League games. After being promoted last year to Div. 1 in the EBA Nines League, we held our own this year and finished mid table. In the EBF League we flirted with promotion but faded a little to finish mid table. Congratulations to everyone who was part of the teams in 2026.
